STARDOME - Observatory, Planetarium

Not far from City Center of Auckland, near One Tree Hill is situated remarcable place which is called Stardome. In March 1967 the Observatory opened without a Planetarium, as at this stage the Auckland Museum was operating a Planetarium which had been donated by the Farmers Trading Company in 1958.


The building of observatory isn't so big, however it contain a lot of interesting stuff about space journeys, history of developing space technologies and exactly planetarium. As you can see on picture, there is a lot of layouts of planets and space ships. The stand where you can find out your weight on different planets and compare result with your weight on Earth. Another one is information stand about firts launch of space ship. Actually, there is approximately 4 or 5 events which were described.



The most exciting entertainment which you can find there is planetarium. It is the main goal if you want to visit Stardome. A performance which you watch is thrilling history of universe and spectacular explanetion of star map in night sky.

Auckland Art Gallary

A lot of tourists visit the biggest city in New Zealand every year, however not all of them come round Auckland Art Gallary. It is New Zealand's oldest established and largest public art gallery. Opening in February 1888, the gallery has increasingly become a focal point of Auckland's rich and diverse cultural fabric, and now lies at the heart of the New Zealand art experience for both the local community and visitors alike. In September 2011 was rebuild.




This art gallery holds over 15,000 work of artists around the world and national too. You can find masterpices from 12th century till the present day. Each floor represent different epoch and kind of art. Ground floor content shop where each visitor can find souvenir for long memory about this fabulous place. Even you can buy small copy of pictures which you have seen in this gallary. Usually, works of modern art are exhibited on this level. 







Picture above reflect hall which content canvases of national artists. Landscapes of New Zealand and old traditional ritual of native citizens - maori are represented at first floor of this hall for instance: original way of making tatoo or portraits of representative of maori. 



Most part of all works is pictures of 17th-19th century. Masterpieces of europian artists consist huge collation of Art Gallary. Sketchs of many explorers who traveled around the world.



At same place, there is a caffe, where you can take a rest and enjoy variaty of food.
